Israel urges world to curb criticism of Egypt's Mubarak

"Israel called on the United States and a number of European countries over the weekend to curb their criticism of President Hosni Mubarak to preserve stability in the region.

Jerusalem seeks to convince its allies that it is in the West's interest to maintain the stability of the Egyptian regime. The diplomatic measures came after statements in Western capitals implying that the United States and European Union supported Mubarak's ouster.

NYT is worried about their beloved Pariah State

"American officials must already be wondering what will happen to the fight against Al Qaeda if Mr. Saleh is deposed. And what will happen to efforts to counter Iran and promote Arab-Israeli peace if Mr. Mubarak is suddenly gone"

The Hosni Mubarak Fan Club

"A long-oppressed people finally rises up and braves tanks, secret police thugs, and the inertia of routine humiliation to say: “Enough”! Who could fail to sympathize? Well, Rep. Thaddeus McCotter (R-Michigan), for one:

“The Egyptian demonstrations are not the equivalent of Iran’s 2009 Green Revolution. The Egyptian demonstrations are the reprise of Iran’s 1979 radical revolution. Thus, America must stand with her ally Egypt to preserve an imperfect government capable of reform; and prevent a tyrannical government capable of harm.”

Why compare Egypt to Iran at all? Well, you know, those people over there in the Middle East are all alike: no need to differentiate. No need to cite any facts, which McCotter doesn’t. Those clean-shaven Egyptian kids in the hoodies and black leather jackets we’re seeing on our television screens may not look like Iranian mullahs, but we all know those icky brown people over there are all the same – don’t we?

Rep. McCotter continues:

“For if Egypt is radicalized, all of the reforms sought by the Egyptian people and supported by the United States with them – including consensual and constitutional government; free elections; open and unbridled media; and Egyptian control of their natural resources – will be lost.”

What universe is this guy living in? How can the Egyptian people “lose” that which they never had? It’s interesting how people like this – I mean crazy people, of course – routinely invert the true meaning of words, employing Bizarro-speak to communicate their underlying nuttiness. He talks about how the Egyptians will “lose” an “open and unbridled media”– at the very moment his buddy Hosni is turning off the Internet and kicking Al Jazeera out of the country. Bizarro-speak is his native language.

The reality is that McCotter could care less about freedom in Egypt: long a knee-jerk supporter of Israel, he leaps when AIPAC says jump, and is a favorite of fanatic anti-Arab bigot Debbie “Bad Hair” Schlussel"

Canadians About To Reach For Their Ankles

200GB to 25GB: Canada gets first, bitter dose of metered Internet

"Metered Internet usage (also called "Usage-Based Billing") is coming to Canada, and it's going to cost Internet users. While an advance guard of Canadians are expressing creative outrage at the prospect of having to pay inflated prices for Internet use charged by the gigabyte, the consequences probably haven't set in for most consumers. Now, however, independent Canadian ISPs are publishing their revised data plans, and they aren't pretty.

"Like our customers, and Canadian internet users everywhere, we are not happy with this new development," wrote the Ontario-based indie ISP TekSavvy in a recent e-mail message to its subscribers.

But like it or not, the Canadian Radio-Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) approved UBB for the incumbent carrier Bell Canada in September. Competitive ISPs, which connect to Canada's top telco for last-mile copper connections to customers, will also be metered by Bell. Even though the CRTC gave these ISPs a 15 percent discount this month (TekSavvy asked for 50 percent), it's still going to mean a real adjustment for consumers.
This is going to hurt

Starting on March 1, Ontario TekSavvy members who subscribed to the 5Mbps plan have a new usage cap of 25GB, "substantially down from the 200GB or unlimited deals TekSavvy was able to offer before the CRTC's decision to impose usage based billing," the message added.

By way of comparison, Comcast here in the United States has a 250GB data cap. Looks like lots of Canadians can kiss that kind of high ceiling goodbye. And going over will cost you: according to TekSavvy, the CRTC put data overage rates at CAN $1.90 per gigabyte for most of Canada, and $2.35 for the country's French-speaking region.

Bottom line: no more unlimited buffet. TekSavvy users who bought the "High Speed Internet Premium" plan at $31.95 now get 175GB less per month.

"Extensive web surfing, sharing music, video streaming, downloading and playing games, online shopping and email," could put users over the 25GB cap, TekSavvy warns. Also, watch out "power users that use multiple computers, smartphones, and game consoles at the same time."
You need "protection"

Here's the "good" news: TekSavvy users can now buy "insurance," defined as "a recurring subscription fee that provides you with additional monthly usage." For Ontario it's $4.75 for 40GB of additional data (sorry, but the unused data can't be forwarded to the next month).

There are also "usage vault" plans—payments made in advance for extra data. Consumers can buy vault data for $1.90/GB up to 300GB in any month.

Where once TekSavvy consumers could purchase High Speed Internet Premium at a monthly base usage of 200GB for $31.95 a month, now they can get about half of that data (if they buy two units of insurance) at $41.45 a month.

Wired ISPs have large fixed costs of building and maintaining their last mile network of residential cable and fiber. The ISPs' costs, however, to deliver a marginal gigabyte, which is about an hour of viewing, from one of our regional interchange points over their last mile wired network to the consumer is less than a penny, and falling, so there is no reason that pay-per-gigabyte is economically necessary."

China to create largest mega city in the world with 42 million people

"China is planning to create the world's biggest mega city by merging nine cities to create a metropolis twice the size of Wales with a population of 42 million.
City planners in south China have laid out an ambitious plan to merge together the nine cities that lie around the Pearl River Delta.

The "Turn The Pearl River Delta Into One" scheme will create a 16,000 sq mile urban area that is 26 times larger geographically than Greater London, or twice the size of Wales.

The new mega-city will cover a large part of China's manufacturing heartland, stretching from Guangzhou to Shenzhen and including Foshan, Dongguan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai, Jiangmen, Huizhou and Zhaoqing. Together, they account for nearly a tenth of the Chinese economy.

Over the next six years, around 150 major infrastructure projects will mesh the transport, energy, water and telecommunications networks of the nine cities together, at a cost of some 2 trillion yuan (£190 billion). An express rail line will also connect the hub with nearby Hong Kong.

"The idea is that when the cities are integrated, the residents can travel around freely and use the health care and other facilities in the different areas," said Ma Xiangming, the chief planner at the Guangdong Rural and Urban Planning Institute and a senior consultant on the project."

Did China Just Invent the 21st Century's Coolest Technology?

"Scientists in China say they have successfully produced a model Maglev train that can travel as fast as a plane, according to a report in a Chinese newspaper.

Shuai Bin, a vice dean at the country's Southwest Jiaotong University, told the Global Times that the train would allow passengers to make the trip from Beijing to Guangzhou in under two hours. He said the vacuum magnetic suspension train model reached speeds of between 600 and 1,200 kilometers per hour. By comparison, a flight covering the same distance takes three hours.

If the claim is true, that would mean the Chinese have topped the speed record set by the highest recorded speed of a Maglev train - 581 kilometers per hour - in Japan."

The Day Egyptians Lost Their Fear

A better look.

Government At War With It's Own Culture

It was a given that Mubarak and his cohorts would start in with dirty tricks to weaken the opposition and protests that have rocked Cairo for a week. One of the main parts of his agenda seems to be spreading nervousness and fear among the general population, spreading rumors such as foreign journalists violence. Yesterday the military made numerous threatening low flying passes over the crowds in Tahrir Square. There have been reports that a lot of the chaos has been caused by police themselves:
"Plain clothe Policemen are suspected to be behind on-going looting in major cities in Egypt, according to Germany based Egyptian journalist, Hebatallah Ismail."
Undercover garbage like that is the hallmark of despotic regimes along with baseless arrests and murder if they think it will help fight the opposition.
But attacking your own priceless heritage in an effort to smear the people fighting for their freedom? The Baghdad museum was systematically looted by thieves in 2003 during the US invasion but that was for profit. Damage to precious artifacts is being done by government operatives for political motives.
That's a new low.

"Today, the Sydney Morning Herald reports:
The former presidential candidate Ayman Nour, who is the leader of the Tomorrow Party, said he had seen unequivocal proof that many looters were thugs backed by the regime.

''We have been able to identify these men as members of the Interior Ministry. We have seen their ID cards,'' he said.

''They are working to make chaos, to make people afraid of the protesters.''

Mr Nour said it was highly suspicious that the police were suddenly nowhere to be found.

Adding to the chaos was the escape on Saturday of thousands of prisoners from the Wadi Natrun prison north of Cairo. Prison officials said inmates overwhelmed the guards. There were reports some guards abandoned their posts during the protests.

Nour was an Egyptian MP, leader of an Egyptian political party, and former presidential candidate."

Huckabee Arriving in Israel Sunday, Tops Two Primary Polls

"Unofficial Republican party presidential candidate and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, a solid supporter of Israel, is en route for his 15th visit. He has said he probably will wait until summer before announcing whether or not he will run for president in 2012.

"Headed to Israel with family and friends. Looking forward to my 15th trip there," Huckabee's tweet read on Saturday, as results show him topping the polls in West Virginia and North Carolina.

Huckabee often has said that if the Arabs in Judea, Samaria and Gaza want a state, they can choose from among several Arab nations and that Jews, who are indigenous to the area, should be able to build wherever they wish to in their country."

Republican Congressman Proposes Tracking Freedom of Information Act Requests

"Mr. Issa, a California Republican and the new chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, says he wants to make sure agencies respond in a timely fashion to Freedom of Information Act requests and do not delay them out of political considerations.

But his extraordinary request worries some civil libertarians. It “just seems sort of creepy that one person in the government could track who is looking into what and what kinds of questions they are asking,” said David Cuillier, a University of Arizona journalism professor and chairman of the Freedom of Information Committee at the Society of Professional Journalists. “It is an easy way to target people who he might think are up to no good.”

Mr. Issa sent a letter on Tuesday asking 180 federal agencies, from the Department of Defense to the Social Security Administration, for electronic files containing the names of people who requested the documents, the date of their requests and a description of information they sought. For those still pending after more than 45 days, he also asked for any communication between the requestor and the federal agency. The request covers the final three years of Bush administration and the first two years of President Obama’s."

Military Jets Try To Terrorize Protestors In Cairo

I'm riveted to Aljazeera's Live Stream this morning. Jets and helicopters have flown low over the tens of thousands demonstrating in Tahrir Square.

The situation is now getting far more intense with the relations between the demonstrators and the military souring by the hour. Apparently the people welcomed the army yesterday but today as tanks and armored vehicles continue to pour into Cairo, along with the intimidation overflights, there seems to be an expectation that something's brewing a la Tienanmen Square in 1989.
Embassies seem to know something:

Israeli embassy staff evacuate Egypt

US and Turkey evacuate nationals

There's a lot of chaos at Egyptian airports.
The way I look at this, everything has crossed the Rubicon and and there's no turning back. At this point it doesn't make any difference if there was outside influence in instigating this explosion of pent up anger or if it was genuine spontaneous combustion. The Egyptian people have lost all fear of Mubarak's thugocracy. Nothing like this has ever happened during his decades long regime. This can go in any direction over the next hours and days but the people won't ever go back to their frightened, passive silence.
There seems to be negotiations going on with the army and the protesters.
Whenever the aircraft fly over the crowds roar "go away!"
I just heard new chants from the massive crowd - "Mubarak must hang."

The entire country is now under curfew.

Globalists Plan for Underwater Nuclear Reactors

"As if the BP and Exxon Valdez oil spills did not damage the earth and it’s occupants enough, the globalists now want to install nuclear reactors on the sea floor.

Not only does this seem like an extremely bad choice environmentally, and even for the future of our existence; it posses a risk of being a target of terrorism. How would they protect such an underwater reactor?

Known as the Flexblue, and developed by a French naval defense company, the underwater reactor is deemed to be cutting edge.

This is what the DCNS website had to say:

“DCNS, for its part, has announced its innovative Flexblue concept following preliminary studies lasting over two years. Flexblue is a small nuclear power plant producing 50 to 250 MWe designed to be installed on the seafloor off the coast of maritime nations.”

Egyptians In Town To Get Their Marching Orders

Egyptian military delegation at Pentagon for annual meeting

"Awkward timing -- or a potentially restraining influence on the behavior of Egyptian security forces?

Asked about anti-government protests sweeping Egypt, and recent unrest leading to government change in Tunisia and Lebanon, Pentagon press secretary Geoff Morrell told journalists Wednesday that senior Egyptian military leaders are currently in town for annual bilateral meetings with their Pentagon counterparts.

"We actually this week are hosting senior Egyptian military leaders at the Pentagon for our annual bilateral defense talks, referred to at the Military Cooperation Committee, which is chaired jointly by Assistant Secretary of Defense Sandy Vershbow and Lieutenant General Sami Anan, the chief of staff of the Egyptian armed forces," Morrell told journalists Wednesday.

"So that's just an example of how engaged we are with the Egyptians, even as these developments have taken place on the streets in Cairo and elsewhere, which I think State and the White House have spoken to in terms of our concerns about how they proceed in terms of non-violence and how they are reacted to by the government and so forth," Morrell continued."

'One third of US military women raped'

"Everybody's supposed to have a battle buddy in the army, and females are supposed to have one to go to the latrines with, or to the showers - that's so you don't get raped by one of the men on your own side. But because I was the only female there, I didn't have a battle buddy. My battle buddy was my gun and my knife,'' Army specialist Chantelle Henneberry said.

Back in 2003, a survey of female veterans suggested that 30 percent of the women serving had been raped, while a study conducted in the following year on veterans seeking treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder indicated that 71 percent of the women said they had been sexually assaulted or raped while serving."

People In The Street Will Always Be Portrayed In A Negative Light

About those looters

"CNN appears to be pushing the ‘widespread looting in Egypt’ story pretty aggressively. I would caution people not to accept that narrative quite so readily. While there is definitely looting, it’s unclear how common it is. Democracy Now‘s senior producer Sharif Kouddous is tweeting from Egypt, and reports that Egyptians are actually cleaning the streets of trash and forming neighborhood watch committees to protect innocent Egyptians from the looters. Furthermore, Al-Jazeera is reporting that apprehended looters were in possession of central security services IDs and government issued weapons.

My point is, revolutions are chaotic beasts. The media should definitely cover the looting stories, but by overemphasizing such events (without bothering to fill in the details of who is looting and why?) the media ends up discrediting a largely peaceful, democratic movement.

When societies break down, looting almost always happen happens. Some people steal to steal, some steal for survival, and others commit anticipatory stealing (Who knows how much longer bread is going to be around? Better stock up now). It’s best to let the dust settle before we start calling for the government to shoot everyone, especially if some of Mubarak’s secret police are doing the stealing."

Iranian Book Celebrating Suicide Bombers Found in Arizona Desert caution - link is to Faux

"EXCLUSIVE: A book celebrating suicide bombers has been found in the Arizona desert just north of the U.S.- Mexican border, authorities tell Fox News.

The book, "In Memory of Our Martyrs," was spotted Tuesday by a U.S. Border Patrol agent out of the Casa Grande substation who was patrolling a route known for smuggling illegal immigrants and drugs.

Published in Iran, it consists of short biographies of Islamic suicide bombers and other Islamic militants who died carrying out attacks.

According to internal U.S. Customs and Border Protection documents, "The book also includes letters from suicide attackers to their families, as well as some of their last wills and testaments." Each biographical page contains "the terrorist's name, date of death, and how they died."

Agents also say that the book appears to have been exposed to weather in the desert "for at least several days or weeks."

Egypt protests: America's secret backing for rebel leaders behind uprising

"The American government secretly backed leading figures behind the Egyptian uprising who have been planning “regime change” for the past three years, The Daily Telegraph has learned."

It goes on to claim some garble about shadowy groups and an anonymous activist guy, but even though I would tend to believe the US is/was behind a lot of coups, this time it doesn't make a lick of sense.

For one thing there's a constant refrain that this uprising is spontaneous and has no leadership per se, unlike the phony color revolutions with their magically pre-prepared signs and placards. and little flags. For another Mubarak has been empire's lapdog for decades. Why would the fascists upset such a cozy relationship, especially since he posed no threat whatsoever to Israel and acquiesced everytime Israel demanded something of him? Also this information stems fro Wikileaks which has already discredited itself beyond repair.

I'm following events in Egypt closely because it appears to be part of a growing momentum of rejection to the US/Israel/British real axis of evil in the region. I'm hoping the people can finally shake off the american backed thugocracy and form their own government. And I also hope the first thing they do is open the border to Gaza, permanently, ending Palestinian captivity in ziofascist hell.

Police Panic Causes "Largest Area Lockdown In History"

LA Officer Accused of Shooting Himself and Lying to Cover it up

"LOS ANGELES -- A school police officer who reported getting shot in the chest -- prompting the lock-down of 9,000 students during a dragnet -- shot himself and has been arrested for filing a false report, authorities said.

During a hastily called news conference, LA Police Chief Charlie Beck said investigators processed more than 350 clues and talked to hundreds of people before concluding that the purported gunman who shot officer Jeffrey Stenroos was fictitious.

"The current state of the investigation refutes Stenroos' initial account of the incident, and we are now certain that there is no outstanding suspect in this shooting," Beck said. "We go where our investigations take us -- if it is to a suspect that is named in a crime or is to a law enforcement officer of another agency."

Stenroos claimed that he was on patrol Jan. 19 outside El Camino Real High School in the wealthy Los Angeles suburb of Woodland Hills when he confronted a man who had been breaking into cars. He said the suspect tried to kill him.

The shooting prompted the largest area lock-down in history. Hundreds of officers from local, state and federal agencies vainly combed a seven-mile area looking for an armed gunman in his 40s with a long, gray pony tail. Helicopters, SWAT teams and K9 units were deployed.

Children from nine schools remained locked in their classrooms for seven hours, unable to get access to restrooms or food out of fears that the suspect would enter a campus and create a hostage situation.

"I'm flabbergasted. I don't know what to say," City Councilman Dennis Zine told AOL News. "To do something like this is unconscionable, stupid and asinine. To stage something like this puts a very negative mark on himself and law enforcement."

Zine said that the incident caused panic and hysteria in the community and that investigators spent hundreds of hours looking for a suspect in the following days."

First official commemoration for Holocaust victims held

"Turkey held its first official commemoration of the Holocaust on International Holocaust Remembrance Day as İstanbul’s governor and other officials joined members of Turkey’s Jewish community to remember the victims of the Nazi era.

“We share a 500-year history of peace with our Jewish citizens,” İstanbul Governor Hüseyin Avni Mutlu told the NTV news channel after the service. “We wanted to share their pain and suffering.”

The global day of commemoration was established on Jan. 27 by the United Nations in 2005. The date was picked to coincide with the anniversary of the liberation of notorious death camp Auschwitz by Soviet troops on Jan. 27, 1945.

Ambassador Ertan Tezgör, who participated in the ceremony on behalf of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, said in his speech at İstanbul’s biggest synagogue, Neve Şalom, that Turkey is following a principled approach against racism.

“Turkey will follow a principled approach regarding the remembrance of the Jewish Holocaust and learn lessons from it as it fights animosity toward foreigners, Islamophobia and anti-Semitism,” he was quoted as saying by the Anatolia news agency."

Fight The Real Power

The Protest Movement in Egypt: "Dictators" do not Dictate, They Obey Orders

"The Mubarak regime could collapse in the a face of a nationwide protest movement... What prospects for Egypt and the Arab World?

"Dictators" do not dictate, they obey orders. This is true in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt.

Dictators are invariably political puppets. Dictators do not decide.

President Hosni Mubarak was a faithful servant of Western economic interests and so was Ben Ali
The national government is the object of the protest movement. The objective is to unseat the puppet rather than the puppet-master. The slogans in Egypt are "Down with Mubarak, Down with the Regime". No anti-American posters... The overriding and destructive influence of the USA in Egypt and throughout the Middle East remains unheralded.
The foreign powers which operate behind the scenes are shielded from the protest movement.
No significant political change will occur unless the issue of foreign interference is meaningfully addressed by the protest movement.

The US embassy in Cairo is an important political entity, invariably overshadowing the national government, is not a target of the protest movement.

In Egypt, a devastating IMF program was imposed in 1991 at the height of the Gulf War. It was negotiated in exchange for the annulment of Egypt's multibillion dollar military debt to the US as well as its participation in war. The resulting deregulation of food prices, sweeping privatisation and massive austerity measures led to the impoverishment of the Egyptian population and the destabilization of its economy. Egypt was praised as a model "IMF pupil".
The role of Ben Ali's government in Tunisia was to enforce the IMF's deadly economic medicine, which over a period of more than twenty years served to destabilize the national economy and impoverish the Tunisian population. Over the last 23 years, economic and social policy in Tunisia has been dictated by the Washington Consensus.
Both Hosni Mubarak and Ben Ali stayed in power because their governments obeyed and effectively enforced the diktats of the IMF.
From Pinochet and Videla to Baby Doc, Ben Ali and Mubarak, dictators have been installed by Washington. Historically in Latin America, dictators were instated through a series of US sponsored military coups..
Today they are installed through "free and fair elections" under the surveillance of the international community.

Our message to the protest movement:

Actual decisions are taken in Washington DC, at the US State Department, at the Pentagon, at Langley, headquarters of the CIA. at H Street NW, the headquarters of the World Bank and the IMF.

The relationship of "the dictator" to foreign interests must be addressed. Unseat the political puppets but do not forget to target the "real dictators".

The protest movement should focus on the real seat of political authority; it should target the US embassy, the delegation of the European Union, the national missions of the IMF and the World Bank."

CNBC anchor implies US must support dictators to keep cheap oil flowing

"CNBC contributor Erin Burnett said Friday that oil prices would skyrocket if countries in the Middle East broke out from under the rule of brutal dictators.

Appearing on a Friday broadcast of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Burnett said that the ongoing revolution in Egypt could threaten US interests in the region due to Egypt's history as an ally on matters pertaining to Iran, Iraq and Afghanistan.

She added that as one of the most developed economies in the Middle East, it was surprising to see many of the society's wealthiest individuals supporting regime change. Tens of thousands of protesters across the country have taken to the streets the last few days, demanding President Mubarak resign.

"One more thing," Burnett remarked. "If this spreads, the United States could take a huge hit because democracy in a place like Saudi Arabia, you've talked about who might come in power, what that means for oil prices. They're going to go stratospheric."

"There's no doubt about it,' MSNBC host Joe Scarborough said. "No doubt about it!"

In other words, democracy and human rights are fine, but not when strategic and commercial interests are at stake."

Asian-American lawmakers demand Limbaugh apology

"Rush Limbaugh's imitation of the Chinese language during a recent speech made by Chinese President Hu Jintao has stirred a backlash among Asian-American lawmakers in California and nationally.

California state Sen. Leland Yee, a Democrat from San Francisco, is leading a fight in demanding an apology from the radio talk show host for what he and others view as racist and derogatory remarks against the Chinese people.

In recent days, the state lawmaker has rallied civil rights groups in a boycott of companies like Pro Flowers, Sleep Train and Domino's Pizza that advertise on Limbaugh's national talk radio show.

"The comments that he made - the mimicking of the Chinese language - harkens back to when I was a little boy growing up in San Francisco and those were hard days, rather insensitive days," Yee said in an interview Thursday. "You think you've arrived and all of a sudden get shot back to the reality that you're a second-class citizen."

During a Jan. 19 radio program, Limbaugh said there was no translation of the Chinese president's speech during a visit to the White House.

"He was speaking and they weren't translating," Limbaugh said. "They normally translate every couple of words. Hu Jintao was just going ching chong, ching chong cha."

He then launched into a 20-second-long imitation of the Chinese leader's dialect."

California Residents Hit With Government Ban On Paying By Cash

"Residents of Discovery Bay, California will be the first in the country to be officially denied the right to use cash to pay for public services, in a move that echoes the Department of Homeland Security’s drive to depict those who use physical money as potential terrorists.

As reported by the Contra Costa Times recently, from May onwards, residents will no long be allowed to pay water bills or purchase park permits after the Discovery Bay Community Services District board voted to ban cash transactions for all services.

Anyone paying for such public services must do so with a credit/debit card, a check or money order.

The declaration on all US money bills that “This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private” will no longer apply in Discovery Bay when it comes to paying the government.

One former director on the District Board told the Times that he believes the move has come in response to a small amount of anonymous requests for copies of public records, which were then paid for in cash, a perfectly legal right.

Residents of the town have been described as “uncommonly antagonistic toward local government”, and former director David Piepho believes some are attempting to use public records “to be like snipers and take shots.”

He believes that by banning cash payments, the local government will be able to identify who these individuals are or prevent them from requesting further public information.

However, district representatives have denied those claims, instead suggesting that the ban is being put in place because handling cash puts city officials under threat from potential thieves.

The ruling sets a dangerous precedent, not only in that it effectively limits access to public records, but also particularly in light of the fact that the federal government is pushing an agenda to identify those who exclusively use cash to pay for things and do not own credit cards as suspicious and potential terrorists."

CIA, Mossad Know How To Get The Biggest Buck From The Bang

Bomb strikes funeral as blasts kill 40 in Baghdad

"A car bomb ripped through a funeral tent in a mainly Shiite area of Baghdad on Thursday, the deadliest in a series of attacks that killed at least 40 people.

The blasts were the latest in more than a week of bombings that have killed more than 200 people, raising concerns about an uptick in violence as the U.S. military prepares to withdraw from the country.

The violence has mainly targeted the majority Shiite community and Iraqi security forces, posing a major challenge to Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki and his fragile coalition government that was seated last month.

The car that exploded about 2 p.m. Thursday had been parked with the vehicles of other mourners, several yards (meters) away from the tent, so it wouldn’t raise suspicion, police said. Several other cars were set afire and the force of the blast damaged nearby houses.

At least 37 people, including four children and three women, were killed and 78 wounded, according to police and hospital officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to release the information."

Empire is never leaving it's colony until it's kicked out at the point of a gun. Black op spooks from the real axis of evil blowing innocents to shreds serves to 1. keep the wogs at each others' throats 2. prove that american military presence is the only thing to mitigate future violence like this and 3. prove to the mouthbreathing dullards back home that all Arabs are crazed, bloodthirsty savages that only the righteous americans can help discipline.
I like how we're supposed to believe devout muslims blow up mosques and slaughter other Iraqis at children's pet fairs.

Propaganda To Make Us Think The Mexican Border Fence Was Worth It

Smugglers catapult pot over border fence

"TUCSON - Smugglers using a catapult to launch marijuana across the border were observed on a remote video surveillance system, and National Guard troops coordinated with Mexican authorities to disrupt the far-flung operation.

the giggly, dry mouthed, pizza ordering instrument of doom

On Friday evening, National Guard troops operating a remote video surveillance system at the Naco Border Patrol Station observed several people south of the International Boundary Fence preparing a catapult and launching packages over the International Border fence, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Border Patrol agents working with the National Guard contacted Mexican authorities, who went to the location and disrupted the catapult operation. The camera showed the individuals fleeing the area before they could be intercepted by Mexican authorities.

The Mexican officials seized about 45 pounds of marijuana, a sport utility vehicle, and the catapult device."

Jeebus, the stupid drivel we're supposed to swallow. The "border fence" is a complete farce, easily blown up, dug under, climbed over and even driven over:

and I can testify that I saw those materials used to construct the asinine so called barrier when I drove from El Paso to Columbus, NM two years ago when they were building it.
45 pounds of pot?
The CIA probably imports 45 TONS of pot every fucking week.

Russian Airport Bombing

Possibly the most transparent false flag event evah.

Israel Strikes Back

"Timing is everything when waging war “by way of deception,” the motto that has long guided Israeli war-planners. Whenever Israel’s geopolitical goals are threatened, chaos is assured. In national security terminology, the January 24 bombing at Moscow’s busiest airport was “out of theater repositioning.”

"First among Tel Aviv’s priorities is their need to maintain traction for the latest geopolitical narrative: a “global war on terrorism” against “Islamo-fascism.” The fact that America’s two latest wars serve Israeli goals remains largely unmentioned in Western media.
Six days prior to the Moscow bombing, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev traveled to the West Bank to endorse a Palestinian state with its capital East Jerusalem. He pointedly noted “this was the first visit of a Russian president to Palestine not united with a visit to another country” (Israel).
Then he joined a fast-lengthening list of nations confirming that, to date, 109 of 192 United Nations member countries support a resolution recognizing Palestinian statehood.
Though the U.S. reliably vetoes Security Council resolutions at Israel’s request, sentiments are shifting as a global public awakens to the costs of the U.S.-Israeli relationship.
Numerous Latin American nations recently extended recognition to Palestine. Ireland just announced an upgrade in its relationship to embassy status.
When waging war from the shadows, Zionist war-planners concentrate their efforts on key variables. Thus the fear in Tel Aviv that emerging events are loosening control of the Israel lobby over U.S. foreign policy.
To sustain a global “war on terrorism,” instability must be sustained. Anyone familiar with the Israeli use of strategic duplicity found it unsurprising when multiple crises emerged “unexpectedly” in North Africa.
Unrest in Tunisia triggered a change in government followed by unrest in Mauritania, Algeria, Yemen and Egypt. During a recent Arab League meeting, Secretary-General Amr Mousa cautioned that the contagion could spread.
If so, look for the price of energy to soar, further weakening leaders in the debt-ridden West where restive populations already face fewer services, higher taxes —and more debt."

Stamp Collections Set To Become Arcane Nostalgia

Postal Service Eyes Closing Thousands of Post Offices

"The U.S. Postal Service plays two roles in America: an agency that keeps rural areas linked to the rest of the nation, and one that loses a lot of money.

Now, with the red ink showing no sign of stopping, the postal service is hoping to ramp up a cost-cutting program that is already eliciting yelps of pain around the country. Beginning in March, the agency will start the process of closing as many as 2,000 post offices, on top of the 491 it said it would close starting at the end of last year. In addition, it is reviewing another 16,000—half of the nation's existing post offices—that are operating at a deficit, and lobbying Congress to allow it to change the law so it can close the most unprofitable among them. The law currently allows the postal service to close post offices only for maintenance problems, lease expirations or other reasons that don't include profitability.

The news is crushing in many remote communities where the post office is often the heart of the town and the closest link to the rest of the country. Shuttering them, critics say, also puts an enormous burden on people, particularly on the elderly, who find it difficult to travel out of town.

The postal service argues that its network of some 32,000 brick-and-mortar post offices, many built in the horse-and-buggy days, is outmoded in an era when people are more mobile, often pay bills online and text or email rather than put pen to paper. It also wants post offices to be profitable to help it overcome record $8.5 billion in losses in fiscal year 2010."

Bank of England: Standard of Living to Plunge at Fastest Rate Since 1920s

"Households face the most dramatic squeeze in living standards since the 1920s, the Governor of the Bank of England warned, as he reacted to the shock disclosure that the economy was shrinking again.

Families will see their disposable income eaten up as they “pay the inevitable price” for the financial crisis, Mervyn King warned.

With wages failing to keep pace with rising inflation, workers’ take- home pay will end the year worth the same as in 2005 — the most prolonged fall in living standards for more than 80 years, he claimed."

Overlords End Ignored Terror Scare Color System

DHS to Scrap Color Code Terror Alerts by April

"Tomorrow Homeland Secretary Janet Napolitano will announce that the much maligned color-code threat level, formally called the Homeland Security Advisory System, will be replaced with a more specific public alert system according to officials briefed on the issue.

In July, 2009 DHS Secretary Napolitano ordered a 60-day review of the system used to inform the public of the terror threat environment to see if it needed to be altered. The task force appointed by Napolitano was split on whether to keep the current advisory system in place. A report prepared by the Task Force noted, "Task Force membership believes the color code system has been ridiculed suffered from a lack of credibility and clarity leading to an erosion of public confidence such that it should be abandoned."

The system has not been raised or lowered since 2006 and officials say they have been better able to tailor security procedures without making changes to the color code system. While DHS officials declined to comment on the changes, which will be detailed Thursday by the Secretary in a speech at the George Washington University Homeland Security Policy Institute, officials briefed on the issue say the new system will resemble terrorism alerts that are used by the United Kingdom"

Your Mandatory Daily Holocaust Reminder

Largest Set of Holocaust Docs Going Online

"(AP) TEL AVIV, Israel - The world's largest collection of Holocaust documents is going digital.
Israel's Holocaust memorial, Yad Vashem, is teaming up with Google to make its photographs and documents interactive and searchable on the Internet. The first 130,000 photos hit the web Wednesday.
Although much of Yad Vashem's archive was already available through its formidable website, the new project enables users to search keywords and data just like a Google search.
A social network-like component allows viewers to contribute to the project by adding their own stories, comments and documents about family members who appear in the online archives.
Yad Vashem Chairman Avner Shalev said even though that feature could be misused to post anti-Semitic comments, the risk is outweighed by the benefit provided to future generations seeking information about their ancestors.

"This is part of our vision - to connect Yad Vashem's knowledge and information to modern technology, and bring it to youngsters," he said."

Preview Of Society After Total Breakdown Commences

Is This What The Whole Country Is Going To Look Like After The Economy Collapses?: 4 Restaurant Brawl Videos

Brawl Fracas Fight Melee

We're in deep shit. The slow motion depression that started in 2008 is about to get far worse in the next several months because there's no turning back from total collapse now, no matter how much bullshit is shoveled at us. It's only a matter of time as events rapidly deteriorate and exacerbate each other. Money will become worthless because the printing presses never stop churning out paper. Creditor nations like China will pull the rug out from under the US when they think it will cause the least damage to them. Gas will go through the roof and stores will have only bare shelves. Food is going to become scarce.

People have become dumbed down, self centered and entranced with bread and circuses, and when it suddenly dawns on the dullards their lives have changed forever we're going to see chaos that we'll scarcely believe. Rising apprehension and hardship make petty grievances explode into physical brawls like in the above videos; can you imagine what it'll turn into when they're life and death matters?

I'm so old I can remember a time when society was far more civil. When I was growing up just outside NYC there was a power blackout in 1965. It was an immense failure that affected the whole northeast and parts of Canada and lasted up to twelve hours. An amazing thing happened by today's standards. People helped each other. Very little looting and crime, as a matter of fact "only five reports of looting were made in New York City after the 1965 blackout. It was said to be the lowest amount of crime on any night in the city's history since records were first kept." Citizens directed traffic and rescued each other from dead elevators.

Society had deteriorated unbelievably by the time of the next blackout in 1977. Conditions were much different and the situation turned ugly really fast. Please note how one of the factors was an economic crisis as compared to the power outage from twelve years previous; we don't have to wrack our brains to imagine what it will be like when economic troubles hit all US cities sometime this year. From Wikipedia:

"The blackout occurred when the city was facing a severe financial crisis and its residents were fretting over the Son of Sam murders. The nation as a whole was suffering from a protracted economic downturn and commentators have contrasted the event with the good-natured Where were you when the lights went out? atmosphere of 1965. Some pointed to the financial crisis as a root cause of the disorder, others noted the hot July weather. (The city at the time was in the middle of a brutal heat wave). Still others pointed out that the 1977 blackout came after businesses had closed and their owners went home, while in 1965 the blackout occurred during the day and owners stayed to protect their property. However, the 1977 looters continued their damage into the daylight hours, with police on alert.[1]

Looting and vandalism were widespread, especially in the African American and Puerto Rican communities, hitting 31 neighborhoods, including every poor neighborhood in the city. Possibly the hardest hit were Crown Heights, where 75 stores on a five-block stretch were looted, and Bushwick where arson was rampant with some 25 fires still burning the next morning. At one point two blocks of Broadway, which separates Bushwick from Bedford-Stuyvesant in Brooklyn, were on fire. Thirty-five blocks of Broadway were destroyed: 134 stores looted, 45 of them set ablaze. Thieves stole 50 new Pontiacsfrom a Bronx car dealership.[1] In Brooklyn, youths were seen backing up cars to targeted stores, tying ropes around the stores' grates, and using their cars to pull the grates away before looting the store.[1] While 550 police officers were injured in the mayhem, 4,500 looters were arrested.[1]"

Just Which Urban Terrains Are They Planning For?

Marines to train in mock city as big as San Diego

"TWENTYNINE PALMS, Calif. – A 1,560-building mock city that's roughly the size of San Diego has risen in the Southern California desert.

The $170 million Marine Corps urban training center at the Twentynine Palms military base is some 130 miles northeast of Los Angeles.

The Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center facility that debuts Tuesday uses mock cities and role players to prepare Marines and sailors for urban terrain missions.

The Palm Springs Desert Sun reports the new center expands on a similar training program called Mojave Viper, which launched in 2005 to prepare troops for the war and life in Iraq."

The Phil Mocek Case

The set up:

Mocek's video of the encounter:

Seattle activist Phil Mocek wins case against TSA

"Phil Mocek, a Seattle activist has won a court case against the TSA.

Without presenting any witnesses or testifying himself, a jury of 6 women found Phil not guilty of all charges against him.

Phil was arrested on November 15, 2009 at the Albuquerque, New Mexico Airport for the following charges:

  • Refusing to turn off his camera filming a TSA checkpoint.
  • Refusing to show his identity.
  • Trespassing.
  • Disorderly conduct.

At the heart of his case was the fact that a charge of refusing to obey a lawful order.

Kurt Nimmo of Infowars reports: On January 21, a jury cleared Mocek of all misdemeanor charges. “I feel good that we had police and TSA on record saying that you don’t have to show ID to fly and that you can use a camera at the airport,” Mocek told KOBTV 4 in Albuquerque.

The Identity Project reports: The best evidence in the case was the video from Mr. Mocek’s digital camera that both the TSA and the police had tried to stop Mr. Mocek from filming, and which ended when they seized his camera out of his hands and shut it off.

The Daily Conservative notes: Case represents the first time anyone has successfully challenged the TSA’s assumed authority to question and detain travelers.

The jury didn’t agree that the order to turn off the camera was lawful, as was the order to leave the airport.

The video Phil Mocek took was the only witness he needed.

The video showed that all of the testimony that the TSA provided was not credible in the jury’s eyes.

The only disorderly conduct the jury found was that of the TSA officers."

Living In A Fascist Surveillance State Means Never Having To Lose Your Car

unsure of her license plate number, Andrea Minnich of San Pedro uses a “Find Your Car” kiosk at Santa Monica Place. Because she’s “basically nobody,” she said, she wasn’t too concerned about privacy (actual text)

"Santa Monica Place recently unveiled the nation's first camera-based "Find Your Car" system. Shoppers who have lost track of their vehicle amid a maze of concrete ramps and angled stripes can simply punch their license plate number into a kiosk touch screen, which then displays a photo of the car and its location.
In Sacramento, the Police Department and Arden Fair Mall partnered to install license plate readers on mall security vehicles. The vehicles roam parking lots and garages in search of "hot list" vehicles provided by the state Department of Justice. If a car with a "hot" plate is spotted, mall security guards view closed-circuit TV footage to locate the vehicle's driver and alert police.
To date, the scans have helped police recover 44 stolen vehicles and arrest 38 individuals, according to mall security manager Steve Reed.
Both shopping centers are owned by the U.S. mall giant Macerich Co., which extols the surveillance systems' ability to locate lost and stolen cars. However, some wonder whether the convenience of such systems justifies their intrusive nature.
Under U.S. law, the entity taking the video owns it and can largely use or share it however it likes as long as the video is taken in public. There is, however, a difference between being allowed to share and being required to share. Police do have the power to compel the owner of the video to share it, usually through a subpoena.
"What should give people pause is that this technology is advancing upon us without anyone having chosen it," said Steven Aftergood, a senior research analyst at the Federation of American Scientists, which studies national security issues. "We have not decided as a society or as individuals that we want this convenience. It is being thrust upon us.
"The car finder is just one of many license plate imaging and facial-recognition devices that have proliferated in the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks, popping up in airports, border crossing stations, tollways and police cruisers."

FEMA Buying 140 Million Meals For A Specific Earthquake

On this day in 1812 one of the mega quakes on the New Madrid Fault happened, with and epicenter in the Missouri bootheel. No one really knows how powerful those quakes were, but they were somewhere near 8 on the Richter scale.
Funny thing about the above order - FEMA doesn't see the need for the meals to last over three years.

Childrens' Penny Jar Donations Pay For Six Figured Salaries At 9/11 "Charity"

Kids' Small Donations Pay for Inflated Salaries

"Schoolchildren thought their penny jars and bake-sale proceeds would go toward building a 9/11 memorial at Ground Zero -- not the six-figure salaries of nonprofit execs.
But 11 staffers at the National September 11 Memorial & Museum each pulled down more than $170,000 in total compensation in 2009, according to the most recent filings. Four execs took home more than $320,000.
Foundation President Joseph Daniels, 38, pocketed $371,307 after receiving hefty raises three years in a row -- 28 percent in 2006, when he was promoted from acting president, followed by 12 percent and 6 percent.Museum director Alice Greenwald made $351,000, and capital planning Vice President Joan Gerner soaked up $337,143 before leaving last spring. Development director Cathy Blaney raked in $322,292. The full-time foundation employee also worked last year as a fund-raiser for Gov. Cuomo's election campaign.
The money to pay the $5.3 million in compensation for the foundation's 87 staffers in 2009 came from private donations -- $220 million raised in a Herculean grass-roots effort to honor the 2,974 victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and $150 million from blue-ribbon board members. More than 60,000 individuals in all 50 states and 31 countries donated to the cause.
The rest of the foundation's money -- about $330 million in tax funds from the state and the Lower Manhattan Development Corp. -- is earmarked for construction of the $610 million project.
Donors ranged from Ohio high-school students who raised $14,000 by completing a 650-mile trek from their Toledo suburb to Ground Zero, to pupils at Bethpage HS in New Jersey who collected $746 in pennies."
