We Better Come To Grips With This Mega Disaster

Researchers Ponder a Hurricane Hitting the Oil-Slicked Gulf of Mexico

"The Atlantic Ocean hurricane season begins June 1, and scientists tracking the Gulf of Mexico oil spill are beginning to think about what would happen if a storm hit the growing slick.
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration won't release its initial hurricane season forecast until Thursday, but experts said it would only take one storm in the Gulf to complicate the ongoing effort to stanch the gushing oil and limit its environmental impact."

Good fucking jeebus, this article is oh so cautious in it's assessments and predictions. And that's the problem we're all facing right now in the media - lies and weasel words to make it seem it's just another hiccup, another slight problem we should know about but should trust that the adults in charge can fix for us.

This is a slow motion extinction event. The blowout cannot be stopped by any known technological bandaid. All the proposed solutions are publicity stunts to make us think the authorities are hard at work on the problem, nothing to worry about here, go back to Dancing with the Stars. We're not supposed to know that no one has a clue.

We've been lied to about the seriousness of this oil volcano. Those "dispersants" are being used to keep the massive oceans of oil from being visible at the surface. The adults in charge are busy pointing their fingers at each other and nattering, meanwhile the rupture can be spewing at the rate of an Exxon Valdez every day or so At this point there is no stopping the gusher and the resrvoir it's pouring out of is one of the largest found in the western hemisphere. Can we say billions of barrels pouring into the world's ocean?

Let me guess what's going to happen here. Hurricane season is in a couple of weeks. News of the immense tsunami of poisonous gunk exploding into the gulf environment, and it's not just oil, will slowly penetrate the dense Foxified brains of american dullards. It will gradually dawn on them that this isn't just another hiccup. Whenever storms develop and track into the gulf region there is a lot of coverage and it takes a few days for the hurricane to move. This will mean a Lot Of People will have time to panic. Even a small storm, but of course with climate instability these days very few of them are small, could rain death for hundreds of miles. Get set to see a large majority of gulf residents fleeing for their lives, and permanent destruction that they can never return to.

Game change.

And that's not even thinking about what will happen when the poison goes up the east coast.
