One Way To Make Your Screed Look Popular

Sarah Palin Used PAC to Buy Her Own Book

"Sarah Palin's fundraising committee spent $63,000 buying copies of her memoir, "Going Rogue," in November and December of last year, ABC News reports. Palin directed the committee to buy the books to send to donors. SarahPAC also spent $8,000 on "Going Rogue" bookmarks and $20,000 to send a photographer along on Palin's book tour. "Going Rogue: An American Life" sold a million copies in its first two weeks in stores. HaperCollins added an additional million to its initial printing of 1.5 million copies, sending 2.5 million into print from the start."

Actually there are a lot of publishing tricks like this used all the time to boost sales numbers and make a book seem more popular than it actually is. Check that "additional million copies" that HC printed up "just in case" Millions sold! Reich wing sugar daddies with deep pockets put in huge bulk orders of books supposedly written by the Coulters and Limbaughs and Palins of the world. Later on they wind up going for a dollar at some conservative book club.
HC also delayed the ebook availability until the day after xmas, maximizing hardcover sales over the holidays .
