The problem is I suspect these would be used more by angry women on their men than to prevent rape.
I can't even see that this would be practical for a woman to prevent a random rape -- unless she is in an abusive relationship, then I could see it justified.
Speaking as a guy it's just too drastic and medieval. How about her getting a concealed weapon permit to prevent rape before it ever got that far? I think also that a rapist brute would be far more likely than a decent man to kill her on the spot, even with his nailed johnson. Plus you're right spooked. Women are just as fucked up as men and you can bet the farm there would be some who are deranged enough to punish or get even.
And as I already said there's way too much grey area for this extreme measure, especially if you combine horny youth with booze/drugs.
the idea is a good one for certain but given it may be used for revenge instead of cases of actual rape and abuse, it wouldn't stand up in a court of law.

To be honest I see very little good about this.
Wouldn't everybody want to have stopped a potential rape waaay before it got to disrobing and penetration? Penile punishment it is, for certain, and satisfaction sure can be had after the fact, but we don't want after the fact. I see this as women giving up and accepting that unwanted sex is inevitable. It's not empowerment, in other words.
And I also see it as a great danger to women when a thug who already is prone to violence, finds yet more reason to be that way. The premise is that he'll sit there moaning about his shredded shlong. Data will be hard to come by though.
Looks pretty painful for all concerned. Seems to me that for that thing to work as it's purported to the deed would already be done and the female would be a victim of rape and murder instead of rape. I'll stick with my trusty sidearm.
