To Those Who Believe The 'Swine Flu' Numbers

Policeman's wife twice wrongly diagnosed with swine flu dies of Legionnaires' disease 'in terrible circumstances'

"A senior policeman's wife died 'in terrible circumstances' from Legionnaires' disease after her symptoms were twice 'mistaken' for swine flu.
Carol Rowe, 46 was told she had swine flu by an ambulance crew who 'refused' to take her to hospital twice after emergency calls.
Her furious husband, Detective Inspector Kevin Rowe of Thames Valley Police, said she died in 'terrible circumstances' after paramedics told the mother-of-two she was 'panicking'.
Mrs Rowe, who had lung problems after suffering from TB three years ago, as well as asthma, rang for an ambulance after feeling severely unwell.
Det Insp Row, 46, from Thatcham, Berkshire, said that on the first visit the ambulance service made a diagnosis of swine flu and refused to take her to hospital.
They returned two days later and again did not take her to hospital."

How many other people are swiftly and wrongly diagnosed with it, and then added to statistics?

Why didn't the Detective Inspector just take the MIL to the hospital himself?

Apparently he was gone somewhere on a charity bicycle ride. He may not have known until it was over and done, but still there were kids who should have risen to the occasion.

Thing is, there are a lot of stories in the public domain where sick people are wrongly diagnosed with swine flu because it's in the news so much, caretakers can avoid responsibility because of it's supposed super transmissability like in this story, and I wouldn't be surprised if more funding magically appears if the swine flu count is higher.
So the numbers are invalidated but will be used to scare us into doing things we shouldn't.

The fascists shout "Swine Flu" and everybody panics.

What good fortune for governments that people do not think.

what an awful, awful story.

earlier this summer we had a cold virus. those who heard us coughing immediately stepped back and asked "IS THAT SWINE FLU?"

fear works.

then there was the doctor who totally jumped the gun last fall, thinking mr. n had the (regular) flu. for you see, doc (clinic) would get paid $$ from the state if she were the first to diagnose the flu in our area. when i pointed out he didn't have a fever (which she'd already made note of), which always goes along with the flu, she dismissed that. he just has a cold virus, i said. nope. she was hell bent on being first in line w/her state colleagues. so mr. n gave them a swab out of his mouth, despite my protests and YOU DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO WITH THAT YOUR DNA IS ON THAT and comment about SOME docs getting degrees out of cracker jack boxes (and the looks of utter disproval by the doc).

lesson learned.
