Works Like A Charm, Same As The Eighties
Unemployed Turn To Armed Forces
"Local armed forces recruiters are finding their jobs easier to do in the wake of the current economy crisis.
Staff Sgt. Cindy Hernandez said her job as an air force recruiter sells itself. She said she does not have to look for recruits; they come to her.
"We have a lot of people just coming in with bachelor's degrees just trying to enlist, trying to join the Air Force for that job security," Hernandez said.
Hernandez said the new recruits are no longer just recent high school graduates; now she is seeing an older generation of unemployed professionals desperate for steady work. The Air Force's new recruit age limit is 28 and Hernandez said she has had to turn people away for being too old."
