Sewage Plant Escapes Insulting Name Change

No George Bush Sewage Plant For San Francisco

Turns out that San Francisco voters didn't think naming a local sewage plant after President Bush was a fitting tribute to the president -- or the plant. Voters on Tuesday rejected Measure R, which would have changed the name of the Oceanside Water Pollution Control Plant to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant. With 98 percent of precincts reporting, more than 69 percent had voted against the idea. The measure's supporters said it was an appropriate way to memorialize the 43rd president, who they blame for a long list of national woes from the Iraq war to the slumping economy. But some critics had pointed out the name switch would have been unfair -- to the hardworking sewage plant."

Too bad about this! hehe- Glad you can still post and thanks also pteranodon and other people who give links and thoughts. Best to you all -hoping for the best-trying to think of any ideas to make sure Mr.Obama lives up to his promise. I voted for the man but will not support US imperialism with a kinder face.

Nor will many people including me, devin, Obama has his work cut out for him and better be up to the task.

It's hard to post with such a limited amount of time in a public library. My laptop died the night before we retired and hit the road. (Dell - boo) Very soon I'll buy another and hopefully will get a satellite connection so I can post at will and keep up with the progressive community from a secret desert bunker.
