"(CNN) -- A federal grand jury has returned a sealed indictment against former New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, sources familiar with the investigation said Thursday.

Next up for Giuliani's protégé was for him to be nominated for commissar at homeland security. It's illuminating to know he was vetted and approved for the job by thoroughly disgraced Alberto Gonzales. At the time he was a board member of Taser International and got quite rich using his Giuliani clout in promoting the use of the torture weapon and hurriedly dumped his stock in the company in anticipation of his appointment. This completely corrupt cretin was tagged by the Bushistas to be in charge of the post 9/11 fat cat agency charged with turning the country into a police state, but his criminal resume was so flagrant and embarrassing (for even them!) that he allegedly withdrew from consideration because of an illegal nanny.
