On The Road With Pickles
We know that politics in the Age of Media is all theater; like McLuhan said "the medium is the message." But the CIA riddled media is loathe to admit just how controlled the imagery is, which is why this CNN clip is actually refreshing to see. From all reports, like this from an NPR listener, Pickles got all Ugly American in her travels to Africa:
"For Mrs. Bush, they covered the mud on the walkway, installed electrical outlets, a generator and fans, painted only the entrance of the building, leaving everything she didn't see in utter squalor. Once Mrs. Bush left, they removed the fans, furniture, generator, even the electrical outlets from the walls.
As if this display of opulence were not vulgar enough, she actually arrived in a limousine."
