Two Positive Outcomes
At least some people want to distance themselves from hypocricy and lies, even if it's only because their bottom line might be impacted. Advertisers are running scared from the increasingly toxic he/she:
"More and more advertisers are abandoning homophobic right-wing columnist Ann Coulter after she referred to Senator John Edwards as a "faggot" during a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference last week.
(...)
Net Bank, Verizon, Washington Mutual, AT&T/Cingular, Dollar Rent-A-Car, SmileTrain.org, University of Phoenix, Sallie Mae, LasikPlus, Power Chord Academy, Gulf Shores.com/Alabama Gulf Coast Convention and Visitors Bureau, Ulta.com, and Yellow Pages.com have now all stopped advertising at Coulter's web site."
And a crisis of sorts has befallen (ex)Reverend Ted's New Life Church in Colorado. Despite his miracle cure from being a strung out meth queen a sizable chunk of his church has decided not to fill the coffers or warm the pews:
"Since the announcement of Mr. Haggard’s removal on Nov. 5, New Life’s donations have fallen to $4.9 million in the past four months, compared with $5.3 million in the same period a year earlier, said Rob Brendle, the associate pastor. The drop was previously reported in The Denver Post.
Attendance at New Life, which has an estimated 14,000 members, has declined about 15 percent, Mr. Brendle said."
At least a few people have integrity.
