'Saddam' Propaganda Stunt Unravels

Whether it was uncaring hubris or sheer ineptitude, the lynching extravaganza in Baghdad sure is backfiring on the propagandists. It was supposed to be a boffo mind control coup meant to have it all - inflame the locals with Saddam's (or his double's) killing, show the world that an Iraqi government can function and satisfy the gullible american ignorati that progress marches on.

They pretty much made a shitty mess out of it all and are hurriedly running around trying to patch up their mistakes.

US spokesflacks are still peddling the fantasy that americans wanted to delay the stunt but relented under fierce pressure from the Iraqis. Imagine that - the meek occupiers taking orders from their pit bull satrap.

US officials pretended to confiscate recording equipment but conveniently allowed several camera phones to be used. Pretty sloppy. Within hours of this hitting the news a big show of arresting the cameramen was presented, as if this wasn't planned. Of course it was planned. They also wanted the man they called Saddam to break down at his execution so they kept him up all night, hoping for some humiliating footage. It's even been alleged that the hangmen were american black ops.

The whole enterprise was a propaganda enterprise gone sour, turned into a panicky CYA job by American officials. Another sterling moment in US history.
