Happy Birthday Isaac Asimov

You would have been 87 today, with probably several hundred more books in print.

Here you're about 20.

My father knew Ike when they went to Columbia U together.
He even came to our house with his wife and kids when I was real small.

He was pretty harsh with his son, a thing my dad always mentioned, very sadly, when his name came up - also, my dad thought Ike wro recordte so many books for the purpose of breaking records for sheer #s of bookss.

Still, dad cared for him - mourned his passing - he was just critical of many things about the man.

(My dad would have been 87 his last birthday too, but he's been gone 3 1/2 years now)

That's very interesting about the man. I didn't know he went by the name Ike. My father is about 87 also.
I guess there's some controversy about the number of books he wrote - a lot of anthologies he either partially or completely didn't contribute to. His seminal works stand out in my childhood SF reading lists.
