I've noticed this 'halo' effect too, and always with Republicans.
Recently I saw a photo of McCain (the current GOP media darling) posed with the same 'golden halo' as the second pic of Bush.
Rove, of course, cares less about the words and more about the 'visual message,' figuring most people watch politicians with the sound down anyway.
It's a shame he's right.
So true - people only scan the headlines, look at pictures and actually read the comics.
I just followed you back here from the CosmicIguana. Good site you have. Most of your links I recognize (and like) but I see several that are new to me. Great! One I think you might enjoy that I don't see here is Rigorous Intuition (http://rigint.blogspot.com/) -- a very interesting place.
