Israel Resumes Bombardment of Beirut

I wonder if anyone else sees what I do in this article from ABC. It has the usual slant which looks at the conflict strictly from Israeli eyes, and has that flavor that led Jon Stewart to declare that "Goliath should stop whining". But it goes on to quote Ehud Olmert dictating to the world about what it has to do to stop the carnage:

Any international force ".. has to be made up of armies, not of retirees, of real soldiers, not of pensioners who have come to spend leisurely months in south Lebanon, but, rather, an army with combat units that is prepared to implement the UN resolution," the prime minister said in The Times.
"I think it has to have about 15,000 soldiers. I think that's more or less what the international community understands."

Who the hell does this strutting jackass think he is? Unilaterally ruining an entire nation, using state terror to slaughter innocent civilians and turning a million people into refugees fleeing for their lives, then ordering the world community around to his exacting specifications? It's obvious that this devastation has nothing to do with terrorism, but is a land and water grab and a drive to destroy a resurgent Lebanon. Any call to the UN or NATO to send a "peacekeeping" force is a cynical ploy to solidify the damage already done.

It's also breathtaking hypocrisy. Israel has ignored over 60 UN resolutions "condemning or censuring it for its actions against the Palestinians or other Arab people, deploring it for committing them, or demanding, calling on or urging the Jewish state to end them." In other words the Israeli state is an outlaw entity, giving the rest of the world the finger for decades as it went about subjugating the Palestinians and invading it's neighbors. The prime minister of Israel and the IDF also know that Hezbollah would consider any peacekeeping force an outside, occupying invader that would get the brunt of the resistance. And it would take at least weeks to set up giving the Israelis plenty of time to continue their ethnic cleansing. Olmert's demands bring new meaning to chutzpah.

And the bombs keep falling.

I cannot even watch it on the news anymore. If I have to look at one more smiling face as they show bombings that are killing the innocent I will be completely ill. Just hearing about it angers and sickens me.
