From Scorcese's The Last Waltz:

Simply one of the best live musical performances ever; Levon Helm gave absolutely everything he had and the audience knew it.
This is just my opinion, but the Last Waltz shares the number one slot with The Complete Monterey Pop Festival as the two finest music documentaries ever made.
The Last Waltz was one of the best concerts in history. The Band was one of the finest musical groups ever and could back up the prestige musicians during this last ever performance or shine with their own material. Listen to how they backed this incredibly difficult Joni Mitchell song, but catch how Robby Robertson effortlessly stepped in to cover Eric Clapton's solo when Clapton's guitar strap came undone at .50:

A break from the apocalypse. Great music.

I love the Band. Saw them in 74 at a CSNY concert in Cleveland OH

Thanx for the comment.
I saw them live with the Allman Bros and the Dead at a Finger Lakes festival in upstate NY in the early 70s.
In retrospect that's some of the best music ever recorded. The Joni Mitchell segment just knocks my socks off every time I listen. Such tasty, tasty super professional stuff.
