California Meltdown

You know, I'd like to say something about "jobs".
People don't need jobs, they need careers. This whole smokescreen is designed to convince us that punchclock labor for a handfull of dimes is our only salvation. You'll hear this from everyone fron Ayn Rand Kool Aid drinkers to dems to rethugs.
It's not the panacea for what ails us, please believe me. All that talk is only insurance that we'll suffer the same exact fate for generations to come.

For a long time before Henry Ford standardized everything from industrial output to wages, people learned that being proficient in something meant they'd be rewarded for interaction with other people.
They didn't have jobs, they had skills and professions.
In the vast majority of how we got along with each other this was how there was human interaction.
Anybody who yammers about jobs and wages is part of our current problems because he or she wants the current paradigm to continue because that's where their cash cow grazes.

Nolo, your comments are correct, but the video is not. On the video, it shows a poor area, what more will poor people do? Smoke and drink alcohol. Thats what the video showed, ok makes sense. But the wage issue is far from being fixed. The problem and fix as i have stated before is the immigration. We must stop the flow of the people of any race into california. Cali provides too much "free" welfare and more pour into to feed off the trough.
The lower wage a worker will except... is the wage that will set the bar. so this "clock in" thing is right. To many slave workers just trying to find anything-work related to do is killing california, and well we "cali" are done. I am all for changing the states name to Titanic. Only the rich (1st class) will get life boats, the rest will be stuck on board and bring the state down until by next year, when cali falls into the sea.

IMMIGRATION is the key to the US.

I agree with both Mabus and Nolo. The federal gov has not effectively dealt with immigration because the unspoken agenda is to bring about lower wages. Then again, we also shouldn't expect "them" to give us a good job. We need to learn to take care of ourselves and in the process, leave "them" banksters et al to stew in their own juices. Drop out of the dollar dunceifying matrix, start doing shit under the table, let the necrotic culture rot away.

We've got a heck of a lot of dependents.... who are fit tools.

Cogent comments all.
My understanding is that society as we know it is irretrievably broken and cannot be fixed. We're about to experience total systemic failure and all we can do about is gape in awe, as nothing in human history will even come close.

Nolo, I tend to agree, but here's my take:

If it weren't for the greedy wealthy corporate vampires and vultures, the 21st century we are experiencing now would show some real signs of social progress, such as a universal 4-day work week, a mandatory living wage for all workers, more legal drug alternatives, much fewer vice-laws, no religious influence over politics and government, no "war on drugs' or "war on terror", etc...

But becuz of the festering fascists who have made millions sucking our blood and picking our bones, we get nothing but more of the same ole shit. No social progress, just the same shit.
