Holocaust survivors target giant insurer in Boca 2/6/11
"BOCA RATON —What does a professional golf tournament in South Florida have to do with life insurance policies from pre-World World II Germany?
Plenty, if the title sponsor is Allianz, the international insurance giant, according to a group of Holocaust survivors and their families. They say they are owed thousands of dollars in unpaid claims from policies written before their relatives perished.
They plan to protest on Yamato Road outside The Old Course at Broken Sound on Monday, the first day of events leading up to the tournament, and again Sunday during the Allianz Championship's final day. The purse is $1.8 million; the winner gets $270,000.
This is the fifth time the Champions Tour event is coming to Boca Raton, but the first time a protest is planned against Allianz over the policies".
