The Disconnect Is Becoming Hallucinogenic

Several years ago Yahoo increasingly became a parody of what "normal" was supposed to be, almost a good source of material for Onion. Apparently all portals trying to play to the AOL/Norman Rockwell internet crowd are crazily bland and innocuous, desperately trying not to offend or shock, yet needing to appear oh so fresh and hip. This comes off as bizarre to say the least.
What we're seeing is mainstream news and media acting more and more like state run propaganda in late stage Soviet Russia, breezily ignoring reality and trying to project some bizarre, calming pablum for the masses. Government is only trying to protect us.
Hey! How 'bout them Knicks?
This morning Yahoo went to the seemingly ever popular and inexhaustible well of top ten lists to airily tell us yes, your lives may be desperate and sad but there's always light at the end of the tunnel, even though it's a speeding freight train headed your way.
