Rationing Your Freedoms

Legislature mulls monthly limit on gun purchases

"A proposal to limit the number of guns a person can buy in Massachusetts is being mulled by the Legislature's Judiciary Committee today, sparking hope among supporters that the bill may finally come to a vote."

More stupidity from idiots pretending to be doing something to justify their paychecks, whether they have a hidden agenda or not. This is along the lines of limiting magazine capacity to ten rounds, as if a ten round magazine is inherently "safer" than a twelve or thirteen round magazine. Crap like this is asinine in the face of solid facts:

"In South Carolina, one-gun-a-month was repealed (allowing for more guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens) and, like the rest of the U.S., South Carolinians continue to experience a decrease in violent crime. This decrease was particularly noticeable last year when sales of firearms to law-abiding citizens reached unprecedented levels."

I've got an idea - vehicular accidents are a real problem in american society. Let's pass a law mandating a maximum 40 hp engine in all future car sales, or better yet governors on all engines that won't let you go over 35 mph, that'll sure cut down on accidents, won't it? Computer crime is a growing problem. I'll bet limiting computers to no more than 500 meg hard drives and 16 meg RAM will certainly fix that.
