What Could Po$$ibly Have Happened?

Iran denies incursion into Iraqi oil area

"Iran denied on Friday its soldiers had entered Iraqi territory and occupied a southern oilfield."

Iraq denies Iranian oilfield incursion

"There was no storming of the field. It's empty. It's abandoned. It is exactly on the border between Iraq and Iran."

Iraqi Troops Mass Along Iran Border

"US officials say they approve of Iraq’s escalation of the as yet unclear situation, and Ambassador Chris Hill declared that it “speaks to the overall view here that they are not going to be pushed around by Iran.”

Everybody says nothing happened. Even if 11 Iranian troops drove up and looked around the barren desert it's hardly an "invasion".
What could possibly be the motive for all this sensationalism in the MSM?
