Many Conservatives Don't Think Colbert Is Joking

It's fascinating, actually. There's something that doesn't understand humor in the mental makeup of people who resonate with a particular ideology.

"Although it is not true that all conservatives are stupid people, it is true that most stupid people are conservative."
John Stuart Mill

It's called conservatism but it actually isn't. True definitions of conservatism include fiscal responsibility, small government, avoidance of foreign entanglement and adherence to the constitution, all of which this new bizarre ideology defenestrated a long time ago. They've substituted real mental abnormality and sociopathic behavior as marks of distinction, and time and again they exhibit the inability to recognize satire and humor. It's like that part of their brain is lobotomized or something. I've seen it in people I know. And here's two examples from just a couple of years ago.

About three years ago these ersatz conservatives saw the wild popularity of Colbert and Stewart and thought to themselves, hey, we can do that! Fox news even decided to run it with an initial name of "The Daily Show for Conservatives". It ran through 2007 to lower and lower ratings until it was yanked in September. It was eventually called "1/2 Hour News Hour".

There's plenty of evidence out there in the public domain that neo conservatives have zero capacity to understand humor but this startlingly shitty production shows it in all it's tortuous glory. Too bad for them the internet saved the gruesome evidence. Try the Limbaugh "sketches" if you haven't seen them. Where the Daily show shines in poking self evident fun at media and mined the hypocrisy of the Bush mob years, obviously impaired individuals tasked with putting out their show started with a rigid ideological stand and forced it into what they thought was comedic material.
Oh how it cratered. Not only is their ideology a sick perversion to start with, but lack of humor brain matter allowed them to think canned laughter, celebrity worship and sophomoronic insults, among other oddness, would generate knee slapping guffaws. To me it proves how shallow and vile neo conservative values are. Self referentially exceptional but at the same time desperately self delusional and paranoid as evidenced by a constant refrain of them battling vast forces of liberalism. Pathetic lone voices of reason soldiering on in a howling wilderness of stupidity. True humor is much more sly than their crude attempts.
What's that old aphorism - "Good humor has elements of truth in it". Apparently neocons truly do have a paucity of that in their belief system.

And I don't know anything about the preperations for the 2006 White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, but whoever made the decision to invite Stephen Colbert obviously didn't have a clue about what they were doing. It seemed to me, from the reaction shots of attendees, that few understood what was going on. Considering that neocon thugs controlled the white house and their buddies made up a good portion of the crowd, Colbert's sharp humor was lost on them. If anything a lot of them felt uneasiness because they thought other people were laughing at all the wrong moments.
