Navy Names Ship After Civil Rights Activist

Vessel will then be used to carry things around for other vessels

"Designated T-AKE 13, Medgar Evers will be the 13th ship of the class, and is being built by General Dynamics NASSCO in San Diego. As a combat logistics force ship, Medgar Evers will help the Navy maintain a worldwide forward presence by delivering ammunition, food, fuel, and other dry cargo to U.S. and allied ships at sea."

An insult to civil rights activists everywhere. This is obviously just another blatant attempt to give the US military a benevolent face-lift and makeover.

Civil rights activists fight for civil rights, not for imperial wars and dictatorships (which is what the military is, a dictatorship, not a democracy).

Seriously, though, the US Navy does nothing to further civil rights whatsoever. In fact, it is simply a huge part of the Corporate Empire's fascist control over the world. I mean, enforcing trade sanctions on nations that refuse to follow US authoritarianism? Raiding cargo ships everywhere and busting traders of hashish, simply because the US-DEA is fighting an absurd war on some drugs and thinks it has the right to force everyone, everywhere to use only alcohol, tobacco, and certain FDA-approved pharmaceuticals?

Fuck the US Navy! Fuck it straight to hell for doing the US Corporate Fascists dirty-work! Naming one of their ships after a civil rights activist will not redeem them!
