Cincinnati officer suspended for Taser use
"CINCINNATI, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- A Cincinnati police officer is being investigated for using a Taser on the passenger in a car stopped after a collision, police said Monday.
Officer Anthony Plummer was charged with using the Taser on Celeste Thomas, 26, while she was on her knees with her hands in the air. Policy dictates a Taser should only be used if a suspect is resisting arrest or has assaulted the officer, The Cincinnati Enquirer reported Monday.
"A preliminary review shows he is not in compliance with our standards and he is being investigated for unnecessary and excessive use of force," Police Chief Thomas Streicher said.
Plummer's police powers were revoked during the internal investigation, the Enquirer said.
He has had use-of-force complaints against him several times, resulting in a suspension and two reprimands. He was once fired from the force, but was reinstated after an appeal.
Thomas is a daughter of City Councilman Cecil Thomas, a former police officer who heads the council's law and safety committee."
Meanwhile the list grows longer.
Man dies after being Tasered at L.A. subway station
"LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says a man has died after a deputy shocked him three times with an electric stun gun at a subway station.
Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore says the man, who was not immediately identified, was at the North Hollywood Red Line station Wednesday night when a deputy repeatedly asked if he had a ticket.
The man didn't answer, so the deputy took hold of his hands to stop and question him.
Whitmore says the man broke free, raised clenched fists and charged the deputy several times. He was Tasered, then shocked twice more when he got up and charged again.
Whitmore says a pipe used to smoke drugs fell to the ground during the scuffle."
I wonder if there were any witnesses, and who dropped the pipe.

Holy Crap-this type of incident is getting more outrageous all the time!! really behind on the news lately and I so appreciate you keeping us all up to date on it!! I've thought for some time that at some point we're going to see as many stories of cops getting shot as people getting tazed. As society's fabric disintegrates I think that point isn't far off.
