Panic, But Don't Panic
It's amusing to see governments fumble their "crisis" mismanagement.
Plan says to stockpile but officials say don't panic
"AUSTRALIANS have been advised to stockpile food and water after the World Health Organisation raised its swine flu alert to phase five yesterday, indicating an imminent pandemic."
""I agree that is it confusing," the spokesman said, admitting he had not read the pandemic plan despite being employed to answer questions about it from national media. "The manual may say people should be preparing but we don't want a run at the shops," he said."
Which means you better make a run on the shops right now.

Individually, I think it's best we stockpile what we need, regardless of the social consequences or the ramifications. It's been my philosophy since forever, nick. If they want panic, which might be what's happening, then it'll only be panic among the ill prepared.
Yes, No, I actually agree also, but the funny thing is, the capitalists may get exactly what they want from it: a sudden surge in consumer spending and a positive signal for their wallstreet doublespeak.
