Minnesota Police Stock Up On Tasers Before Republican National Convention
For a fleeting moment I saw this headline and thought those repugs are in for a rough time, but no.
"The purchase is expected to arrive in St. Paul just in time for the Republican National Convention prompting media speculation that the weapons are being purchased specifically for the convention. When asked by Fox 9 News whether the police will use the weapon at the convention particularly against protesters, police spokester Tom Walsh said, "Our hope is that no one will have to use any degree of force. If it becomes necessary, will that be one of the tools available to them? I suppose that's safe to say."

And, golly, if no protestors turn up then all of those tasers could be put to use on the service staff at the various hotels and bars during the convention - you know - to amuse the Barbara Bushes and Rudy Giulianis of this world.
For example:
"This martini is too dry!" *ZAP*
"9/11" *ZAP* "9/11" *ZAP*
"Stop leering at my son you dirty old bastard!" *ZAP* "Uh, sorry Senator...didn't recognize you..."
Haha
Seriously, what does this tell us about our society when the cops publicly announce in advance they will all use torture devices?

I think it says (no, shouts) that the necessary mental shift has taken place in the enforcement segment of our society. I had quite a lively discussion (fortunately no tasers were available!) with two law enforcement people about a month ago about the incredible abuses of this device. They just smiled at my indignation.
