Soldier Suicides At Record Level
The sub headline reads "Increase Linked to Long Wars, Lack of Army Resources"
Bullshit. The soldiers feel more outrage than we can ever possibly imagine at having to waste their time and lives doing filthy work at the behest of monstrous psychopaths. They know full well this isn't war but brutal occupation and enforced subservience. It isn't just the length of time torn away from their lives and fuckups with supply lines. It's the moral anguish at having to follow sick orders from despicable criminals, against their better judgement.
Think about this propaganda. Do you really believe soldiers raise a gun to their temples and scatter their brains because they 'lack resources'?

You hit the nail on the head here, my friend.
But I think it goes deeper than a sense of nihilism about the mission. What eats at men and women in the field is the way that fighting the bad fight changes them for the worse.
As exemplified by the letter posted here.

I know Corpsmen would say it's an indicator not of the writer's conviction but of morale on the edge of collapse, and would be ashamed enough to put a security round in their own head.

"Fighting the bad fight"
Jeebus how despicable. And they sell that "the few, the proud... " to the kids along with the video games.
It's cuz they can't deal with the shit it puts in their heads. My guess is that a majority of these suiciders saw little children brutally massacred. That's one of the most difficult images to deal with, it can push a person right over the edge, especially if they can't do a damn thing to reconciliate for it.
