Wild Thing, I Think You Move Me
This actually happened where I once lived near the Oregon coast about fifteen years ago. It rained quite a bit there and one morning I noticed an entire hilltop had disappeared behind the house as I drove away into town. Later I climbed up to take a look and found it had collapsed into a streambed and dropped about a half mile down. Three foot diameter firs had been snapped like toothpicks and the flow was about 100 ~ 150 feet across. The stream had already started to carve a new channel into the slide. I never heard a thing.
