30 Years Since The Eruption Of St. Helens

I lost a friend that day. Bruce Faddis was a hunting and fishing buddy and wanted some company to go up to Spirit Lake to camp and fish, but several friends and I had a drift boat trip planned down the Deschutes for three days.
He most likely died in his float tube out on the lake, fly casting to the morning risers. His car was found, but nothing else.
We only discovered the mountain had blown when we took out at Maupin and stopped for a burger at a diner, and saw the headlines on a newspaper.
On the way home we hit the ash cloud.
Rest in peace, Happy.

We may have communicated via email a year or two ago about our mutual friend Bruce Faddis. You probably want to email me soon; there's been a flurry of activity about him in the past week, including the surfacing of a woman who is probably the last person to see him alive! cell phone 503.266.1417. or BruceJ@oregonphotos.com
