3 explosions rock holy Shiite city in Iraq

"BAGHDAD -- Three explosions ripped through the city of Najaf on Thursday, just hundreds of yards from one of the holiest sites in Shiite Islam.
Two homemade bombs detonated just five minutes apart about 5:30 p.m. in an open-air fish-and-vegetable market. Police found another bomb inside a garbage truck. As they tried to defuse it, a bomb in a car parked nearby exploded, ripping through the crowd, said police Capt. Hadi al-Najafi.
Authorities gave conflicting estimates of the number of dead, ranging from one to at least two dozen."

"The bombings were the first in Najaf since 2006, when the country was roiled in sectarian strife."

So one should ask the obvious question - who benefits from killing innocent civilians and passers by? Certainly not an Iraqi sect or group needing to keep the support of the Iraqi people. Random slaughter and sectarian strife that it's meant to generate are right up an occupying force's alley however, with divide and conquer writ large in their playbook. It's a win all around for the sick fucks doing this. They'll murder indiscriminately, blame whoever needs to be smeared, set Iraqi against Iraqi to weaken opposition to the occupation and use the violence to justify it's continuation.
