Flurry Of Strong Quakes Hit Latin America Since Haiti

1/15 - Venezuela

"An earthquake with preliminary magnitude of 5.6 struck eastern Venezuela on Friday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The quake's epicenter was about 25 miles from Carupano, near the Caribbean coast in northeastern Venezuela, the agency said. It was 7 miles deep."

1/17 - Off Argentina

"In later breaking news a 6.3 magnitude earthquake occurred miles deep in the seas between Argentina and Antarctica today. The U.S. Geological Survey reported the quake centered 350 kilometers southeast of Tierra del Fuego at a depth of a little over 10 miles. No tsunami warnings were issued. This shock follows the devastating earthquake in Haiti and a lesser one in Venezuela."

"A magnitude 6,0 earthquake hit Guatemala's Pacific coast near the border with El Salvador on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
It said the quake, 64.2 miles deep, was centered 60 miles southeast of Guatemala City."

1/19 - Cayman Islands

added - Yellowstone hit by swarm of earthquakes

"
Yellowstone National Park has been rattled by more than 250 earthquakes in the past two days following a period of 11 months of quiet seismic activity in the park.
The quakes have been gaining strength, with a 3.1 tremor recorded at 11:03 a.m. today. A 2.9 quake was recorded at 12:38 p.m.
Prof. Robert B. Smith, a geophysicist at the University of Utah and one of the leading experts on earthquake and volcanic activity at Yellowstone, said that the activity is a "notable swarm."
"The swarm is located about 10 miles northwest of Old Faithful, Wyo., and nine miles southeast of West Yellowstone, Montana," said Smith."
