The Suddenly Clairvoyant Secret Service
Bush had a photo op planned at an elementary school in Florida the morning of 9/11/01. This wasn't a secret, his itinerary was known for three days, having been published in the Sarasota Herald Tribune on 9/8. Anybody who cared knew where the president of the US would be at what time that morning.
The first plane hit the trade center while Bush was in the motorcade on the way to Booker Elementary. Supposedly the situation was out of control with an unknown number of hijacked airliners flying around and crashing into buildings.
The white house press briefing sought to reassure an alarmed public that the president, VP and speaker were whisked away to secured locations.
But in reality the secret servive allowed Bush to stay in the classroom.
The secret service is tasked to protect the president at all costs.
The only reason he was allowed to stay there in the school is because they knew he wasn't in danger.
