Another Spokespuffer Passes
"Alan Landers, a former cigarette pitchman turned anti-smoking advocate, died at his Lauderhill home Friday. He was 68.
The self-proclaimed "Winston Man" had been in a 14-year legal battle with R.J. Reynolds and other tobacco companies, claiming smoking caused his health problems. His case was scheduled for trial in April.A survivor of two lung cancers, Mr. Landers was undergoing chemotherapy and radiation for recently diagnosed tonsillar cancer. He also suffered from emphysema."
He apparently was a good man who was sorry he ever pitched for Big Tobacco and was set to testify next month in a multimillion dollar court case.
My sister dated one of the Marlboro Men several decades ago. He died of cancer also.

Nolo-just wanted to say-of all the horrific habits i picked up over the years smoking has been by far the most hard to get rid of-I am trying once again with a script-but it seems to me that there must be some kind of drug in those cigs beyond what they tell us -In normal circumstances I am one of the most even-tempered and longest-fused people I know -without tobacco in a 24-48 hour period almost psychotic (this is only part hyperbole) I so regret picking up the first cancer stick at the age of 12 -is there anything more stupid looking anyway than a middle schooler trying to look cool smoking? best to you and the Mrs and all who comment here!ps it is working now-but I do not want to rely on script forever -as I also do not trust big pharma:-)
