Cop Mentality Follies

Cops get call about some man carrying a machete. Cops apparently randomly confront an unarmed boy on a street. Cops produce a taser and tell the kid to lie down on the street or get zapped. Boy lays down and promptly gets his head run over. Cops tweak story to make themselves seem less stupid.

Deputies Appear to Flip the Bird in Department Photo

"HAMLIN, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- The 2009 edition of the Lincoln County Sheriff's Department calendar is the talk of the town after some say one of the deputies was giving the finger to the camera."
""I honestly don't think it was intentional for anyone of the guys. Both of them have been good friends of mine," said Lincoln County Sheriff Jerry Bowman.
But, he ordered both men to collect all of the calendars from the community and cover up the fingers in question with black markers."

Thieving Gangs Authorities Grab Property in East Texas

"TENAHA — A two-decade-old state law that grants authorities the power to seize property used in crimes is wielded by some agencies against people who never are charged with — much less convicted of — criminal activity.
Law enforcement authorities in this East Texas town of 1,000 people seized property from at least 140 motorists between 2006 and 2008, and, to date, filed criminal charges against fewer than half, according to a review of court documents by the San Antonio Express-News.
Virtually anything of value was up for grabs: cash, cell phones, personal jewelry, a pair of sneakers, and often, the very car that was being driven through town.
Some affidavits filed by officers relied on the presence of seemingly innocuous property as the only evidence that a crime had occurred.
Linda Dorman, an Akron, Ohio, great-grandmother had $4,000 in cash taken from her by local authorities when she was stopped while driving through town after visiting Houston in April 2007. Court records make no mention that anything illegal was found in her van. She’s still hoping for the return of what she calls “her life savings.”
Dorman’s attorney, David Guillory, calls the roadside stops and seizures in Tenaha “highway piracy,” undertaken by a couple of law enforcement officers whose agencies get to keep most of what was seized."

Hallucinating cops with shitty gun skills open fire on innocent couple

"Police opened fire on an unarmed couple during a routine traffic stop late Tuesday night because one officer “thought he was shot,” a high-ranking Salinas Police Department official said Thursday.
“He saw what he perceived as a threat and thought he was shot, and based on that both officers discharged their firearms,” said Dino Bardoni, commander of investigations.
No one was hurt in the 11:24 p.m. incident at North Sanborn Road and Freedom Parkway, but the couple’s SUV was riddled with bullet holes and its rear window was shattered."

25th Wedding Anniversary Makes Cops Nervous

"A couple who held a cowboy-themed party to celebrate renewing their wedding vows were shocked when armed response police teams turned up.
A police spokesperson said all reports of firearms had to be taken seriously. "We have to treat all reports of firearms as genuine and respond to them accordingly," the spokesperson said."

"It was a little bit over the top with the helicopter."

It runs in the family

"After Jersey City cop Martin Abreu was charged with vehicular manslaughter and driving while intoxicated, after allegedly striking two pedestrians—killing one and injuring the other—his mother defended him. The Daily News reports that a woman who identified herself as Abreu's mother said, "It was her fault," referring to 26-year-old Marilyn Feng, who died while crossing West Street at Albany in Battery Park City. The woman added, "So my son went out and had a couple of drinks. He deserves to have a good time now and then."
Feng and boyfriend Dennis Loffredo (both pictured at left) were walking to Feng's apartment at 3:40 a.m., after a night of tango dancing. The News reports, "Cops pointedly refused to say whether the couple had the light or not."

The cops in this country are simply assholes these days. They're incredibly arrogant (don't ask me why...its not like you have to be a rocket scientist to be a cop), they're hot tempered (probably do to all the 'roids cops are said to be taking these days), and they sense they can get away with these kinds of outrages (and usually do) because we have an idiotic public that worships the cops and the government's use of force in general.

They shouldn't forget, though, that some of us will refuse to prostrate ourselves before the pigs and are armed to the teeth too...

You know, there was always that fascist mentality that lurked mostly beneath the surface, but after 9/11 and the criminal mob the last eight years that mentality was nurtured and encouraged. Every department got unlimited funds for new toys and the top down attitude was a green light for abuse without recriminations. With mouthbreathing thugs being hired and cops needing perps to justify the massive security buildup the stage was set for big trouble.
You're right that at some point enough people absolutely won't take police state shit and we'll start to see that people simply won't be taken into custody, and people won't stand by while others are abused.
The BART cops are lucky to have escaped alive after murdering that young black dude in cold blood.
