Cop Mentality Follies

City police sued over strip search
"A Baltimore man filed a $210 million civil lawsuit yesterday against the city Police Department, a former commissioner and several officers in connection with a 2006 incident during which he says a band of rogue cops held him at gunpoint in the street, stripped him and searched his rectum in front of about 30 onlookers.
The federal suit is the second filed since March in U.S. District Court in Baltimore alleging "widespread and persistent" civil rights violations by police officers who belonged to an elite "Special Enforcement Team" that worked mainly in the southeastern part of the city. "
added - Cop: While I Arrest You For Riding Your Bike On The Sidewalk I'm Going To Spray Myself In The Face And Then Punch You In Your Face
added - Don't try to make a baby smile. Just hunch over, lower your eyes and hurry by quietly and you'll be all right.
Armed police arrest man for 'playfully pointing toy ray-gun at baby'
"Police scrambled eight patrol cars filled with armed officers after a man in his 50s pointed a toy ray-gun at a baby and said 'Pow, Pow'."
"'What happened next was truly astonishing. I've never seen anything like it. These eight cars screamed to a halt and surrounded the poor man at the bus stop.
'They were fully kitted out with machine guns, rifles and everything.
'The man didn't know what was happening. All he was trying to do was make the baby crack a smile.'
Police seized the man's toy ray-gun and arrested him on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm in a public place."
added - Cop - "You Didn't Pull Over Fast Enough, I'm Going To Ram Your Van Full Of Kids And Arrest You"
When you step back and survey a lot of these incidents the pattern becomes pretty clear. Three overriding reasons for unnecessary escalation of violence stand out. Cops have been given a green light from the top to be immediate judge, jury and executioner in their relations with the public. They feel the need to ramp up the threat to justify all their actions. And probably the one main factor that stands out most in these encounters - there seems to be a sense among cops that the public isn't submitting to their authority quick enough.
In other words fuck the law and public well being, people should be summarily punished for perceived disrespect. A sure sign of thug mentality.
