New Cold War Suddenly Turned Hot

You've got to wonder if the fascists have decided to initiate World War 3 by small increments, sort of like death by a thousand duck nibbles. Since unleashing their proxy north african bandits, after weeks of turning Pakistan into a charter member of the Axle of Weasels, reinstituting their western hemisphere gunboat diplomacy patrol, placing missiles aimed squarely at Russia in Poland, sending an entire navy to threaten the middle east, they've decided to support a pro - NATO toadie while he goads the Russian Bear right on it's border. Georgia is completely tied at the hip with our homegrown warmongers. Did you realize who had the third largest contingent of mercenaries in occupied Iraq?

The situation in a nutshell:

"South Ossetia, about 60 miles (100 km) north of the Georgian capital, Tbilisi, broke away from Georgia in a 1991-92 war that left several thousand people dead. It has close ties with the neighbouring Russian region of North Ossetia.
The majority of the roughly 70,000 people living in South Ossetia are ethnically distinct from Georgians. They complain that they were forcibly absorbed into Georgia under Soviet rule and want self-determination.
A peacekeeping force made up of soldiers from Russia, Georgia and North Ossetia monitors a 1992 truce. Tbilisi accuses Russian peacekeepers of siding with separatists, something Moscow denies. Sporadic clashes between separatist and Georgian forces have killed dozens of people in the last few years

It's clear who you're told to think is the villain in all this. All day long I've listened to radio reports of the confused breaking situation and it's apparent the corporate media has been given it's marching orders to villify Russia and talk up plucky little Georgia. The little arf arf poodle barked her requisite condemnation - "The United States calls for an immediate cease-fire to the armed conflict in Georgia's region of South Ossetia," Rice said in a statement." But I've got to ask the obvious question - why does President Mikheil Saakashvili of Georgia all of a sudden feel so emboldened to go to war with the second most powerful military in the world?

And this is also a good question to ask. For several years the west has maintained that the breakaway Serbian province of Kosovo had the right to independence, even going so far as to recognize it as a sovereign nation. Because it conveniently is the major heroin highway to europe for the drug running fascists, they proudly stood up for the KLA and Kosovo's separation as the denouement of a decades long plan to see Yugoslavia's disintegration. Yet 90% of South Ossetia is ethnic Russian but the fascists stand squarely behind the Georgian power play to smash it's drive for independence. Why should't an independence minded Caucasion state be supported the same way an independence minded Balkan state was?

This isn't the first time The Georgian government went after Ossetia. In 1992 Eduard Shevardnadze, backed by the west, tried the same thing but was humiliated, leaving his nation destitute with some 300,000 refugees. They never really recovered and Saakashvili, since taking office in 2004, proved himself to be quite the thug who resonated smashingly well with the Bushista criminals in the white house. Since then he squandered 70% of the country's budget on his military and obligingly sent troops to the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations.

So really, the big question is what precipitated this war in the Caucasus that truly threatens to expand to disastrous proportions? It seems like Saakashvili is very sure of western backing in doing this, which may be an attempt to rally public support when most Georgians have as much love for him and his cronies as we do of the Bushistas. It also may be that since Georgia desperately wants a seat in NATO they're trying to strut their bona fides by facing down the powerful Russian military. More than likely Washington gave their Caucasian thug the green light to begin his thunderous assault on South Ossetia, prodding Russia into retaliation so the vile MSM could have a field day crying about "naked Russian aggression" when the tanks roll. It could also be a ploy to keep Putin occupied as the fascists proceed with Operation Iranian Genocide.

Seems like there's a third party interested in this confrontation.
