Phony Columbian "Rescue" Heads To Hollywood

Fictional story doesn't even need a rewrite

"LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - Colombian movie director Simon Brand is teaming up with producers in Hollywood and his native country to bring to the big screen the story of last week's dramatic rescue of Ingrid Betancourt and 14 other hostages in Colombia."

The vile media fell all over itself to gush about this blatant propaganda ploy, so it comes as no surprise that it'll be made into a full length movie. There's been zero mention of allegations by credible sources that the whole extravaganza was a set up to advance the fortunes of thuggish Columbia president Uribe and Plan Columbia by presenting a feel good, boffo good-guys-win-the-day fairy tale. A la Jessica Lynch.
One would almost think that somehow the Israelis were involved, because this phony psy op theater is their special little gift.

Well, looky here - Israeli Role in Colombian Rescue

"JERUSALEM, Israel - Former Colombian presidential candidate Ingrid Betancourt walks freely today, thanks in part to Israel. (...)
Israel's involvement in the operation began a year and a half ago when Colombia asked Israel for help against FARC, the Marxist rebels who kidnapped Betancourt in 2002.
Israel responded by dispatching a group of military advisors to assist the army in matters of intelligence, special operations and integration of security forces for the operation, though they did not participate in the actual rescue
."

Why should they have? All that was done is hand over $20 million and pretend the whole thing was a brilliant effort on the part of Bushista cronies in the Columbian government, whose tarnished image needed to be prettied up a bit.
