The Treason Of The Mainstream Democrats

by Richard W. Behan

Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort.
— Article III, Section 3, United States Constitution

"The mainstream Democrats—represented, say, by Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, Joe Biden, and Christopher Dodd—have not levied war against the United States. Their treason lies instead in committing the second offense: they adhere to enemies of the country, giving them aid and comfort.
The enemies are President George W. Bush and Vice President Richard Cheney. Like no other president and vice president in history, these men attacked their country.
It was not our geography George Bush and Richard Cheney invaded. Instead they abandoned and subverted the bedrock institution of our Constitutional democracy: the rule of law. By word and deed, Mr. Bush repeatedly and arrogantly sets himself above the law, claiming obedience to be a matter of Presidential choice. Mr. Cheney orchestrates, coaches, applauds and iterates. This cannot stand if the country we know and cherish is to survive. George Bush and Richard Cheney are literally enemies of the state; long before now and by any measure of Constitutional justice they should have been impeached and removed from office.
Abjectly, continuously, and stubbornly refusing to hold them accountable, however, the mainstream Democrats adhere to this criminal president and vice president: nothing they have asked for has been denied, no barriers placed in their way. That is giving them aid and comfort, and that is treason.
George Bush and Richard Cheney took the country to war illegally, with a deliberate, carefully designed and executed package of fear-mongering propaganda: lies, distortions, and deceptions. No informed citizen entertains the slightest doubt about this."

Something has the democrats by the balls. They've caved, folded, given up, and acquiesced to pure evil every time they should have risen up to challenge it. They've chosen to abrogate the responsibilities and duties they swore to wield in defense of the country, the people and the constitution. Something has them by the balls and they're too much the scared, spineless, pants wetting cowards to do anything about it.
We should have nothing but contempt for the craven invertebrates.

The only thing that might save the dems is their action to reverse Bush police-state domestic policies and restore civil liberties and the constitution.

In fact, I suspect that this is their real agenda -- to simply let the right-wing have their imperial wars while suppressing the rise of a police-state at home. This has been the method of the ruling-class bipartisan system all along.

The right-wing wages war and threatens a police-state while the left acts more antiwar and works to suppress the police-state. Like the ying and yang of political profiteering, together they prevent real progressive reforms and maintain their selfish corporate wealth and power at the head of the so-called free world.

By maintaining such a method of political control, they basically keep the status quo exactly where it is and where they like it.

Think about it. If they pull it off alright, the dems will be hailed as the saviors of our domestic freedom and the constitution, while the ME continues to go through bloody hell.

Just my perspective.

I'm afraid the dems are just another part of the same corrupt system-- Arthur Silber has a relevant post about why the dems are in fact worse than the repubs . Some of it is hyperbole but much of his analysis is dead on. I agree with his point that it is naive to think that the US only went bad in the past 6 years. Bush is very bad, but he didn't just come out of nowhere.

The reason is, the same people that own the republicans are the ones that own the Democrats, are the ones that own the government.

Sounds like wild conspiracy theory, but actions speak louder than words. Once the "other" party gets in power, they start doing the exact same fucking things -- depress social services, steal out of social security, enlarge the gap between the rich and the poor, bust unions. The only difference is the hype, it's like Coke and Pepsi -- same shit different merchandising.

Skipping the first chapter (though it is interesting it's almost completely irrelevant to the discussion) watch this movie: http://www.zeitgeistmovie.com/ to see why they're "both parties" (one party in my book) act the same on the greater issues (like the Federal Reserve).

as i've come to believe, the only difference between the dems and repubs is the following: the repubs use starch, the dems, an iron.

yes, both parties indeed are owned and controlled by the same factions. nothing new there.

Nick - that good cop/bad cop act has worked in the past and some think that it'll be used to mollify the uneasy populace next year. I don't believe they care much for camouflage any more with the dem/rep stageplay but I may be wrong and they could continue the yin/yang thing. My money's still on a Giuliani segue.
That's a good one by Silber, spooked. He's one of the best voices out there and his admonition that no one should think Dim Son came out of nowhere and single handedly destroyed the country in 6 years is a point well taken.
I'm letting that movie load right now bpaul - anything with Carlin in it grabs my attention, especially if he riffs on religion.
I wish more people would wake up to reality, Nina. It's amazing how many will recognize how despicable one side of the coin is but think flipping it will cure the problem. Which is why I don't spend much time at Daily Kos.
