Cop Out
I don't think many people were persuaded that the seriousness of Foley's predatory ways could be mitigated by his admission that he was an alcoholic and that he was molested by some clergy. To me it just seemed to be a public relations ploy, and his 30 day stay at a treatment center was a good excuse to take the heat off for a while. Apparently some other folks also question whether he was a drunk. It's an awful lot like claiming you found Jeebus so you can get out of the slammer a little quicker.
But apparently we get to pay for his sabbatical, as he checked into his spa under a continuation of his taxpayer funded medical plan. So even though he resigned in disgrace on September 29, Mr. Measure It has us fund his phony "treatment" program. They never stop making excuses, do they?
